WORKS IN BOROUGH.
COMMITTEE’S REPORT. The Paeroa Borough Council’s Works Committee reported on Thursday evening as follows:— “Considerable maintenance work has been carried but during the past month, including repars to Prospect Terrace, ,Miller Avenue, Kennedy Street, Railway Street, Dearie Street, George Street, William Street, and King/Street, on which approximately 150 yards of metal has been used; this has effected much needed improvement and has made some of these streets better than they have ever been before. I '“Footpaths have received, attention in Corbett Street, Albert Street, Bradley Street, Seymour Street, Rye Lane, Prospect Terrace, Lower Hill Street, and Poland Street; and it is proposed as f/r as possible to carry out more of this class of work in other parts of the town. > ‘Some progress has been made with relief of unemployment work in the formation and metalling with second class metal of portion of Willoughby Street, from Russell Street to Victoria Street: and this will be proceeded with as circumstances permit. “The two bitumen tanks were in need of considerable repairs, including new fire bricks and bars; ; and their reconditioning is being carried out by the Borough staff. “Preparation is als> being made of the gear which will be required for repairs to the Ohinemuri River bridge. “Zs soon as the weather is favourable the necessary work on the bowling green will be proceeded with.”
