RAIDS ON ENEMY

CRACK AT TURIN

ROYAL ARSENAL DAMAGED.

(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).

(Received this day at 12 noon)

RUGBY, December

British bomber crews who raided Turin objectives last night' had a better journey than those in the aircraft which bombed industrial transport targets in Dusseldorf district.

Tlio first news of tlie bombing of Turin’s Royal Arsenal was o.a message from a bomber who had just dropped bombs, saying—“ Raid successful , weather perfect.” This formidable assault of the great armament works on Turin was an impressive feature of a double attack 011 Italy from bases in this country and the Mediterranean. The Royal arsenal was once again the chief objective. Much was done to reduce the output of guns, carriages, shell cases and tanks. The raid began sometime after nine p.m. asd continued for about two hours. A considerable number of large firqs were caused amongst the arsenal buildings, also at the Fiat works which were also attacked one by one, as they returned to their various stations.

Pilot’s crews confirmed one anothers accounts of the success of tli e attack. The Dusseldorf raiders had little success with the weather. The journey to the target was through a thick cloud and rain. The raiders might have had to seek other objectives, but a lucky cloud gap enabled the first arrival to .get their bombs on yards in Dusseldorf district and Rohrenwery armament works, quays and dockyards along the Rhine and Russeldorf coal gas plants. During the raids which lasted nearly twelve hours, goodsyards at Neusi and Dortmund were also bombed from other aircraft, as well as docks and shipping at Antwerp, Ostend and Calais.
