WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

A IIA Hint A VALLEY BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Arahura Valley Women’s Institute was held in the One* Mile Hall on Wednesday, September 11th., Airs Edwards presiding. Motto: “It takes two to make up a quarrel.” Needlework: Child’s dress, not costing more than 2/6.-—Mrs Cunningham Ist., Aliss M. Bradley 2nd. Blooms: Best posy.—Alelva Bradley Ist., Aliss Cunningham 2nd., Airs Finch did. The President welcomed Airs Finch back after her long illness.

A “Bring and Buy” stall proved a success, the funds being donated to the Alakogi Island lepers.

It wag decided that each member bring along an article each month to make parcels for our soldier boys leaving the district. Rev. Fisher gave an interesting address on some of bis mission work in the Islands.

During the afternoon, Airs and AHss Cunningham played a pianoforte duet. Misses Wilson and Bradley sang a duet, “Till the Lights of London Shine Again.” Rev. Fisher was the winner of the afternoon’s competition.

The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close.
