NEW YORK, March 18

A huge merger of financial and aircraft interests here is announced. It ]S a merger between the Curtiss-Wright Corporation, one of the largest U.S.A. aviation manufacturers, and the Atlas Corporation ; one of the principal investing companies in the United States.

This merger is the largest financial development in aviation history. The companies state that it will enable full advantage to be taken by them of the war-time boom, and will also provide 26,500,000 dollars of liquid capita], for the development of peacetime aviation.

COMMUNISTS ARRESTED. PARIS, 'March 19. Thirty-three Communists have been arrested. In addition, two tons of literature has been seized. Radio equipment that is usable in transmitting information has also been seized.
