GERMAN WHALERS
BIG FLEET LEAVING. (Dmted Press Association- By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) BERLIN, September 21. German whaling fleet of six motherships and forty-four smaller vessels, is shortly going to the Antarctic, aiming to obtain one hundred thousand tons of oil, thrice above last year's, and a quarter of the world’s annual production.
The pride of the fleet is.the Walterrau, of twenty-two thousand tons, capable of reducing twenty whales daily into oil, cattle fodder, and tinned outlets, for which there is an increasing demand as food in Germany.
