Sigismund 'Levanevsky, a Soviet air ace, took off at 6.25 p.m., local time, on ’ a non-stop flight across the North Pole to Fairbanks where he is continuring to Edmonton, Chicago and New York. The machine has four engines and a total crew of seven.
