Amos Howell a members of the Upper Hutt Borough ■•Council, was charged by the police to-day with forging a receipt for £2 12s in tho name of T. Johnson, and by the' Audit Department that, in July, he voted in the Council on a matter wherein he had pecuniary interest, and also on November 2 and November 30, 1931, and o n May 30, 1931, having become incapacitated from being an Upper Hutt Borough Councillor, lie acted as such,

His son, Amos Rae Howell, was charged with forging several receipts to the Council, one it; the name of R. Rotheray and others in the name of T. and T. H. Johnson. The forgery charges were adjourned to Wellington on Wednesday. The (Municipal Corporation Act case was remanded to December 13, bail being allowed.
