THEFT ALLEGED
■ "BAUD FOR DALMATIAN
AUCKLAND, April 17.
Charged with stealing £76 7s 6d. the property 0 f 'Pony Ik tie,licit and others, a Dalmatian labourer, gtev'e Milat, aged 29, appeared in the Police Court on Thursday before .Mr. W. R. McKearn, S.M. John Barbari'ch, a contractor, _ said he had sub-let a contract to six Dalmatians, of whom 1 accused was one. On i March 23 he and accused went to the bank where witness cashed <a cheque for £9l. The cash was given to accused, to be divided among the six men concerned.
Tony Batislich, labourer, s aid the six men were working on equal shares, and it was agreed that accused should cash th e cheque and pay each of Oie men some £ls. Accused j however, denied having received the money for the other men, which had not been paid to the men.
Accused, who was represented by Mr Schramm, ( pladed not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail of £2OO was renewed.
