ARMS EMBARGO

WASHINGTON, April 7

The House, to-day adopted the arms embargo resolutions granting Mr Roosevelt power to prevent the shipment of arms to warring nations. Tlie resolutions will now go to the Senate, where considerable opposition lias been indicated.

Speaker Rainey said that lie had not discussed the remonetisation of silver with Mr Roosevelt, and did not. know the Administration’s attitude. He would not take the initiative in pressing for silver legislation, adding he would leave it with the President. “I think the United States can go ahead on a plan to remonetise silver without an agreement with England and France, but it would be better if we can get the concurrence of those countries.”
