APPEAL TO. THEODORE

FOR ANOTHER THREE- MILLIONS

(Australian press Association) (Received this day at 9.25 a.m) SYDNEY, July 17. The biggest political sensation in New South Wales and probably in Australia was uncovered to-night. The Sydney "Morning Herald" will announce to its readers to-morrow that Premier Lang is face to face with bankruptcy and is unable to carry on, He has appealed to the Eederal Treasurer, Mr Theodore, for advances up to three million sterling between now and September, for essential services. 'He requires half a million immediately, otherwise he will be unable to pay public servants next Thursday, ,two millions in the middle of August, 'and a million and a half in September. These sums are quite exclusive of his requirements for external interest and payments due to the Commonwealth amounting to £3,481,000 as indicated in the Federal Budget. Mr Theodore arrives at Sydney tomorrow and will meet the Lang Cabinet and discuss the situation.

Mr Theodore is on his way to Brisbane to defend the action in the Mimgana affair, which opens cm Wednesday.
