Beautiful spring weather provided pleasant conditions for play in the New Zealand Golf Championships to-day:— In the third round of the amateur championships, results were: — J. L. Black heat A. E. Ekst'edt 0 and 5. A. G. Sime heat Tv. C. Ward 3 and 1. Sloan Al.orpcth heat C. W. AtncFarlane 9 and 7. L. Catliro beat B. J. Smith, junr. 10 and 8. In the professional semi-finals, results wore:— A 5. SL w beat C. C. Clements 4 and E. J. A loss boat E. S. Douglas 1 up. N.B. LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. CHR ISTCHURCH, October 2. Except for a stiff easterly breeze, the conditions were excellent for the semi-finals of the New Zealand Ladies’ GMf Championships to-day. Miss 0. Kay (Dunedin) played almost a flawloss game in her match with the present holder of the championship, Aliss Chrystall, averaging one over lours for tiie holes plavod. The match ended at the 12th green, Aliss Kay winning eight and six. Mrs Dodgshun bent Aliss Stevens 4 and 2. Neither player showed her best form. Airs Dodgshun was five up at the turn. Thereafter Aliss Stevens did her best to save the game, but her position was hopeless. The final will he to-morrow over thirty-six holes. The second bogey handicap was won in the first division by Aliss Betty Rutherford, one down. ATrs Wooding (two down) was second. In the second division it was won by Airs R. AlacDonald (one up). The Rattray Cup for the best aggregate in the two bogey matches was won by Airs AVooding, with a score of three clown. The tie in the limes Cup teams match between Auckland A and Christchurch A was won by Auckland with a score of 313, against 345 by Christchurch. .
