EGMONT RACES.
FIRST DAY'S EVENTS
Appearances this morning were in favour of >a very successful race meeting for the Egmont Racing Club. The weather was beautifully fine, and was no doubt an important factor in obtaining the patronage of an unusually good attendance of the public, including a large number of visitors. The course was on the holding side, but nevertheless was in surprisingly good order after the wet weather experienced prior to yesterday. The track had had constant rolling, but naturally it will probably cut up before the day is over. Moosman's orchestra supplied the musical programme, which was, as usual, thoroughly enjoyed by all present. All arrangements were capably handled by the officials.
