CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 2. South Canterbury were defeated by Canterbury by an innings and 121 runs. In reply to Canterbury's 368 the visitors made 98 (Beechey 16, Mullan 10, McWhirter 14) and *149 (Harper 12, Angland 17, Beechey 14, K. Mullan 55). The most successful bowlers were Rix seven for 56, McEwin six for 82, and Coupland four for 19.
