REPARATIONS

SIR LLOYD-GRAEME'S VIEWS

ar CABIiB—PBESS ASSOCIATION— GOW.RWS.T LONDON, Aug. 25. The president of the Board ot Trade (Sir P. Lloyd-Graeme), speaking at Aberdeen, referred to the Government's policy on reparations. He declared the British case would never represent a pro-German, view. Our objects were to obtain the maximum amount from Germany in the most rapid and effective way and the establishment of stable conditions in, Europe. The most important guarantee would be effective control of German finance, without which it would be impossible to stabilise German exchange. There must also be, concurrently with the settlement of reparations, the establishment of effective security against aggression. Referring to Empire development, ho said the Dominions had vast resources requiring settlers to develop them. This would bring wealth and prosperity to both, the Dominions and Britain, and the'greater acceleration given now the greater the future advantage. !
