• -t-r (From' Our Own Correspondent.) ,Mr- Espiner, sent., of Mahaia, hag ' , kindly donated every year £2 for a skipping competition' for the girls attending the Manaia State School in two sections, viz., 10 years and over, and. under" 10 years. The competition took place at the school grounds on. Thursday, and was very -.interesting. Mabel:"\Van put up a record, winning . the senior competition with 2118, H. ! Hair was second with 1019, and D. : Ransom third with 914. ' For girls under 10 years, Eva Sandford was first with 1623, Edna Jones second with 985, '• aiid B. Yarrow third with 525. Mr. C. ; Jones, on behalf of the donor, present- • ed the prizes, and in doing so complimented the girls ..on their splendid'performances. He also thanked Mr.' Espiner for his generous donation, which the School Committee .appreciated, and in conclusion asked all "the oupils to give three hearty cheeFS for hfm.
