JUVENILE BURGLARS.
ORDERED TO BE WHIPPED
CBY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 7.
Two boys, the heads of a juvenile burglars' club, the members of which had admitted several robberies, and the accumulation of a remarkable collection representing the "profession," appeared before the police court for sentence. The accused were aged 14 and 12£ years respectively and were the sons of respectable parents. Their career of crime was attributed to the reading of much cheap trashy literature. Mr. Wilson, S.M., said that both boys must receive a good thrashing, and he could not order it without recording a conviction, which he was reluctant to do. He wanted an assurance that the boys would get a thorough whipping by some one competent to do it, and adjourned the case for a fortnight on the suggestion that such punishment woußTbe inflicted by the parents in the presence of the probation officer.
