ASSOCIATION MEETING.
The annual meeting of the South Taranaki Cricket Association was held in Messrs. Welsh, McCarthy and Beechey's office on Thursday evening, there being present:, Messrs. -H. R. Pen^y, F: Silsoii, J. F. Tiddy'(Hawera), Dr. M&urisell and Hobday (Manaia), Priest and Chadwiek (Kaponga), Cole (Stratford), Gray land Hewlett (Hawera Technical College).; ' In the absence of the president (Mr. B. McCarthy) Mr.1 Penny was voted to the chair. ' ,_ / : The report gf the previous season showed a successful year ; vin /club cricket, and though all outside matches ended in defeat.! Vplayers had opportunities of learning more of cricket by these games. The balance-sheet, showing, a jcredit; balance of £5 9s, was also read and adopted. " The election ofofficers as follows: President, Mr B. McCarthy (re-elected): ■ vice-presidents, ■< presidents of affiliated plubs, hon. secretary and treasurer, - Mr. D. D. Henderson (re-elected). Election committees: Considerable discussion on the adAasability; of having one^ two. or three selectors ] resulted in a decision for two, Messrs. "Penny and McCarthy; being elected. I Mr. H. C. Ridley, of .Christchurch^ was I re-elected delegate to the New Zealand ! Cricket Council and Mr. P.-;,M: Pratt* was re-elected hon. auditor. Fixture's committee: Messrs. Silson, Tiddy and Henderson. Executive, to decide minor matters without calling delegates together—Messrs. McCarthy, Tiddy, Silson and Henderson..: \ The senior competition . this year will include Hawera (two teams), Manaia, Kaponga, Stratford, / and possibly Eltham. ■ - The .... inclusion of Stratford i will, necessitate further grounds, to avert the longer travelling, and Messrs. E. Cole, J. Tiddy and P. M. Pratt were appointed ,a ojommittee to investigate the possibiljties of certain grounds. fcltham Club haying sent no dele^ gates it was decided to invite nominations of Senior and junior teams, to close Thursday, 12th Octobep. »' The junior teams so far nominated are; Hawera, Manaia. Kaponga and Hawera Technical College (2). Should Eltham enter a,senior and a junior teani there will be six senior and^six junior »competmg, which, if grounds allow return matches, should provide workable competitions. The opening day was fixed for October 21 for senior and October 28 for junior competitions. • ' The matter of re-establishing the ( schools competition was : discussed^ it being decided to call a meeting <of teachers in Hawera on, Saturday, 21st October. .
