CHRISTCHURCH, May 13. j The dead body of Mrs. Macdonald, ' the wife of Ronald Macdonald, well known in business and, social circles, 1 was found this morning al the foot of the cliffs at Scarborough, Sumner. \ j Everything points to deceased having fallen from the top of the cliffs, which, j at this point, are four hundred feet high. Mrs. Macdonald was Jnissed yesterday evening, and a search was made, but had to be abandoned owing to the darkness and heavy seas. At the inquest the evidence showed that she had been a sufferer from giddiness, and that it would be a very dangerous thing for her to go near a cliff. The verdict was that death was due to severe and extensive injuries caused through accidentally falling down the cliff. | I A girl named Eileen Hayward was admitted to the Stratford hospital on Saturday afternoon suffering from minor injuries sustained at Waipuku by being knocked down by a motor car occupied by the New Plymouth contingent ot shootists on their way to Hawera. It appears that the girl was standing on the road outside the "Waipuku station, and did not notice the approach of the car until it was very close to hei\ Then she lost her hend, and dodged into instead of away from the car.
