TV Air Council has written to the promoters of the Imperial airship schmiff expressing the opinion that the scheme • constitutes a notable advance on pavnsious proposals for utilising airships. The Council considers that, provided six airships- are used!,, and a a airship ' base established; in Isd'ia, the scheme I offers a reasonable prospect ©f a sue- ■ eessful operation of a service, with ■ India. The Council does, not desire to discuss the fTaamcial aspesta of the proposals. It is noteworthy, that tfee letter fioes not refer to the ptospecta ef extencEicg the service to Australia.. [The promoters of the- airship- scheme1 include the Vicksrs and the Shell Oil group. The company asks for an annual subsidy of £<?1,000 from the British Government, an£ £40,000 each from India and Australia, until it is- able to pay a dividend unsupported. It proposes out of a capital of £4,000,000 I spending £3,400,000 on new airships, and hopes to establish a bi-weekly service with India, with weekly extension to Australia.]
