IRONMASTERS' ASSOCIATION. (BY TELEGRAPH —PEESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 12. ' At the annual meeting of the Canter- ] bury branch of the New Zealand Ironmasters' Association, the question as to the best action to adopt in connection with the general order of the Arbitration Court in reducing wages os per week was considered. It was resolved jto observe the order, and to rediue all award wages accordjj^^l; ( The agricultural Implement section nau alrea_dy anticipated the reduction iby reducing prices* equivalent to* a 10s 6d per week reduction in wages as from March 1, that being the commencement of the seasonable sales. The engineering section will rediiee the hourly rate of charges for jobbing and open order w©rk as from May 15. It is hoped this will react upon the trade to the extent of • increasing the ( amount of work offering, arid thus extend employment to some at least who are either on short time or entirely unemployed.
