ATHLETICS.

Hearty congratulations are due to the Hawera relay team, comprising Whittington, Wilkinson, Weir and Julian, who won easily the footballers' relay race at the Stratford Carnival, rhe first distance (440 yards) in the relay race was run by Weir, who gained a lead of 20 yards to Whittington, who ran the 220 yards. Julian received the ball from Whittington and ran 120 yards to Wilkinson. "Wilkie" ran the 100 yards, which was the finishing distance, and he finished 40 yards ahead of the Inglewood team, which ran second. Other teams to compete were Star (New Plymouth), Toko, Stratford, Inglewood, Stratford High School Kaponga, Tariki, and Strathmore.
