CHRISTCHURCH SALE,
_-__-. (BT. TELEGBAPH —JPRESB ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 16. The fourth Christchurch wool sale commenced this morning. The offering was 21,784 bales, compared with 20,692 at the last sale a month ago, but up to the adjournment to-night at eleven o'clock half the lots offered were passed m. • The range of prices so far is: Super merino 14d to 20d, medium merino 12d to 14d, super half-bred 14d to 16* d, medium half-bred 9Jd to 13d, inferior half-bred 8d to 9Jd, three-quarter bred 9d to lid, medium three-quarter bred /d to B£d, inferior three-quarter bred 4d to 6jd, super cross-bred 7d to lOd, medium cross-bred sd. to 7d, inferior cross-bred 3d to s_, best half-bred pieces 9d to 12£ d, medium half-bred pieces 5d to Bd, cross-bred pieces 3£d to 6d, locks to 4d. There was a full bench of buyers and competition was keen for all good lines, merino especially meeting with keen competition from Continental buyers. Best half-breds were keenly sought after,-as also were good light crossbreds, but warty and inferior wools won very little animation. Bidding was most irregular all through the sale, especially for inferior cross-bred. j Taken all round "the sale indicates a firm market for well-grown merino and half-breds, with a falling tendency,of from Id to 2d on all inferior lines. The sales will be continued to-morrow. /
