(N Z ) n.A- (Cantab.)_. had been appointed to tne Chair'of Physios at Auckland University College. Mr Percy Burbidge ™V s -6 years of aSe, is a native of Wellington. The death occurred at Oamaru last night of the Hon. George Jones, JVL.Iv.O. Deceased was born in Upper -tiutt in 1844, entered Parliament as a representative of Waitaki in 1880, and - sat for two sessions. On the rearrangement of the boundaries Mr Jones did not seek re-election. He was called to the Legislative Council in 1895, and has sat almost continuously as a member of that Chamber. For fifty years Mr Jones was prominently associated with ■New Zealand journalism, and was well known as a finished violinist, and for many years was conductor of the Oamaru Garrison Band.—Press Assn.
