AUROA.

A meeting was held on Wednesday to consider the above matter. Mr Dunn ' was in the chair. Mr J. Stevenson (Manaia} outlined the district scheme, and said he hoped Auroa would join in. Mr Le Fleming (Ofcakeho) spoke in favor of the scheme and said that Otakeho would join in. Messrs Larcomfee, Sadler, Penny and Buxton spoke on behalf of a local' scheme. Mr Penny proposed,-and Mr Bradford seconded,*"That this meeting is not in favor of the county scheme i for a memorial." Thirty-four voted for , and 3 against. . - Mr Buxton -proposed, and Mr Bradford seconded: "That we erect a memorial to our fallen- soldiers in the * school grounds, subject to approval of .- the Education Board."—Agreed to. A committee was formed to go tin. with, the matter, consisting* of Messrs Buxton, Tait, Barton, Larcombe, Bradford, Deegan and Penny; secretary, Mr Larcombe; treas., Mr Buxton.. Promises to the amount of £100 were received in the hall. At a meeting of the committee Mr Bradford was elected chairman. It was resolved to write to monumental masons for quotations for erecting memorials, and to the Education Board for per- J mission to erect a memorial on.the school grounds. Messrs Buxton and Penny were elected a canvassing committee. Mr Buxton kindly offered to carry free all metal needed for~foun-i dation. fc' '**'"■'>.
