CARNIVAL DANCE
The dance held here on Tuesday last in the interest of the Sports candidate was without doubt the most successful held here for some time, and the result, a balance of about £10, must be very pleasing to the committee. The ladies of Matapu excelled themselves in the way of catering, and are to be complimented on the excellent supper provided. First-class music; was sudplied gratis by Miss Gardiner and Mr E. Taylor, while extra* were' played by the Misses Quin, Hareourt, Lane, and G. Bootten.
During the evening Mr T. Gardiner, on behalf of the candidate (Miss Quin), thanked one and all for their presence and assistance there that evening. He wished especially to thank the musicians for playing gratuitously, ihe ladies for providing supper, and afeo Mr and Mrs Jas. O'Sullivan for generous donations to defray the cast of the hall hire and supper* expenses.
