Ferry returned from a visit to the city on Friday night, and the family, on their usual happy terms, retired at 11 o clock. Mrs Perry states that she was awakened by. a gunshot at 3 a.m., and heard her husband making noises, bhe saw he had been shot in the head. ±ne eldest son, John, who was sleeping m an adjoining room, said he heard a gunshot, and on jgoing to his parents' room asked his mother what was the matter with his father. She replied that someone had blown his head off. She told him. to call a neighbor. The boy did so, and Dr. Bromfield, of Papakura, was sent for. On arriving with the police at 4.45 a.m. Perry was dead, his head being badly shattered and several parts of the skull blown away. A sensational development has occurred in connection with the shooting of Perry. Chief-Detective McMahon and Sergeant-Detective Hollis arrested Mrs Amelia Perry, v.idow of deceased, at 2 p.m. to-day at Ramaraina, and charged her with the murder. Mrs Perry is 31 years of age.
