Amongst the list of those admitted to the Third General Hospital, London, appeals the name of Major ,T. W. Brunt.
A cable received by Mr Hugh Baily, of New Plymouth, last night, conveyed the sad intelligence that his son, Private Ronald Baily, died in London on Saturday afternoon. Private Baily was admitted to the Fulhani Hospital London, from the Dardanelles, suffering rrom a wound in the leg and blood poisoning.

Mr A. V. Penn, Sub-Collector of Customs at Auckland, has been appointed to the position of Collector of Customs at Wellington. Mr Penn is a brother of Mr W. J. Penn, of New Plymouth, and of Messrs T. H and C. Penn, of Stratford.
A. London cablegram announces the death of Mr Keir. Hardie, from pneu! moma Mr Hardie was the first avowedly Socialist member of the •House of Commons. He was for many years leader of the Labor Partv. and had much influence not only in Britain but in Europe and America. He visited New Zealand about eight years ago.^ Mr Hardie has been in poor health for a number of years, and has passed away in the 59th vear of his lire.
