GOLF
The final for the club's handicap championship, was played off yesterday afternoon between Turner (3) and O'Callaghan (4), and produced some very fine golf. O'Callaghan took the first two holes in two 4's, but Turner evened the scors upon the next two. At the long hole, ''Tipperary," both Slaved excellently arid halved in 5. •'Callaghan was fortunate in getting in a win at the "Hummocks," and equally fortunate in getting out with a half at the "Basin," though lying his opponent a stymie. He played his drive in to the lupins at the next, iud gave up, Turner scoring a fije % I'he long hole was halved m 6, and the score thus stood all square at the turn, i'rom this on O'Callaghan made no race of his opponent, taking- the next two holes, halving "Mount Zion," and then registering three wins in succession, and the score at the 15th hole was 5 up and 3 to play in his favor. As, however, a protest had been entered by Turner for a breach of the rules by his opponent at the "Westward Ho" hole, and assuming that the decision might go in his favor, it was decided to continue the match as if the score read "dormy 3." Both players found the bunker at No. 16, but both recovered excellently, and the hole was halved in 6, leaving O'Callaghan the winner of the match by 3 up and 2 to play, assuming that the Protest had been decided against him. U'Callaghan's score card read as follows :-Out: 4 4 7 4, 5, 5, 4,-, 6. In: o, o, d, o, 6, 5, 6. Turner's score was:—Out-. 7, 5, 5, 3, 5, 6, 4, 5, 6. In: 4, 7, 3, 6, 4, 6, 6.
