TOWN BOARD

Correspondence was read from the secretary of the Taumarunui Patriotic Carnival Committee, asking for the Boards support to then: resolution asking the Government not t to enforce the Gaming and Lotteries Act during the, present crisis, so that art unions etc., for patriotic purposes might be held.—Received. From the Wanganui .Education Board, notifying that a nuisance complained of on one of their .leased sections would be attended to From the secretary of the Egmont Mountain Club, asking the Board's cooperation in supporting the club, which has as its object advertising and increasing the tourist traffic to Mount Eginont.—Referred to the Beautifying Society.
A petition signed by 12 ratepayers was presented asking that a creek be filled in, also for an additional electric light, and the formation of a footpath in Terau street. —Referred to Works Committee for report. The ranger (Mr W. Heaver) attended and supplied a list of paid and unpaid dog taxes and cow registrations. It was decided to take immediate action against all owners of unregistered dogs, and the ranger was instructed to impound, all linregistered cows.
The town foreman reported that good progress was being made with the remetalling of portions of the Main road.
Accounts to the amount of £147 15s 4d were passed for payment.
