MISCELLANEOUS.
Saturday afternoon was perfect for outdoor games, and the tennis and croquet courts were well patronised, visitors being present from Hawera and Otakeho. Lately we have heard little of the •rater and drainage scheme, but it ni?y be becoming an accomplished fact ail tb> same. "With the wind and dust we get in Manaia a hose on the streets or a water-cart would be a boon to the town. Surely the shopkeepers and residents wiF fcpep ih» matter \r?lJ to the front and see what can be done i*s "Ji* near future. Mr, Mrs, and Miss Hair have frst returned from a five weeks', motoring ■p in the Martcm and Taihape dis fcncts. They report that the roads are n good condition, and they thoroughly joyed the scenery and country right through. A moonlight picnic was held in the Domain on Wednesday last, when between forty and fifty young people spent a happy time. This is becoming " favorite soot for these outings, and Manaia is fortunate in having such a fine place so near to the town.
