MANGATOKI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The Mangatoki Union Sunday School held its'vannual prize-giving in the hall on Monday. May 4th. The function took the form of a tea in the hall at 6.30 p.m., and the children sat down to tables loaded with good things provided by parents and friends, about 150 persons—children and adults—being present. After tea all present indulged in games,, a few musical items being intersnersed with the evening's programme. At 9.30 p.m. Mr D. L. A. Astbury. after speaking a few appropriate; words to the gathering, presented the. prizes to individual scholars, and called for three cheers for Miss Maggie Lambie, the children's teacher, and these were lustily given .by all present. Miss Lambie unfortunately was^ not able to be present, owing to having left on a visit to Hamilton. Much of the success of the function was due to those young ladies who spared neither time nor labor in carrying it out to a successful issue. I ■understand the form of the gathering was suggested by Mrs Thoiaas Linn, and being so successful promises, to ha an annual one.
