AUROA.

(From Oub Own Correspondent A very pleasant time was spent on luesday evening on the occasion of the welcome to the Rev. Mr Rowe. The hall had been prettily arran-j.l at- ;t drawing room and decorated with masses of chrysanthemums. Music, games and competitions passed the time very happily for young and old. Mr Chivers (of Okaiawa), in a humorous speech, welcomed the Rev. Mr Rowe, and said it was the wish of the circuit to support a married man, and he hoped the people of Auroa would give the same assistance to this worthy object as they had done in. the past whenever help had been required. In welcoming Mr Rowe, he hoped he would have the best possible time of his life, and as he looked round at the interested faces he could see that Mr Rowe would never preach to an empty church. Mr Sandford '(Manaia) also welcomed Mr Rowe on behalf of the Manaia church, and Mr Duff (on behalf of the Auroa Presbyterian Church) expressed pleasure in welcoming Mr Rowe to Auroa, and hoped the unity that existed between the churches would continue.

Mr Rowe, who was ' received with applause, said he felt very gMteful for the kindly welcome they had en hhn, and he hoped to be of some service to all young people. He v.as glad to see that such perfect harmony existed between the churches, anti he thanked them all for the pleasant evening and hearty, welcome. He said the circuit recognised that Manaia was a very important centre and always sent their best men—that was why he had been sent, he laughingly added. The following programme was submitted: Pianoforte 6010, Mr Tait; song, Miss Duff; anthem, choir; song, Mrs Buxton; pianoforte solo, Miss May Duff; recitation, Rev. M. Rowe; song, Miss Wills; duet (violin and piano) Mrs Buxton and Miss Bobin; anthem, choir; song, Mr Brown; duet Mesdames Barrowclough and Buxton; song, Mrs Barrowclough. After a very tasty supper had been handed round, a move was made for home, all regretting the close of such a happy evening's entertainment.
