A large meeting of Indians carriod a, resolutibri protesting against the constitution of the Commission on Indian grievances, and urging the inclusion of Indian representatives. The. chairman said that he particularly objected to Mr WyUe, on thY jround that he was a member of the defence Iqrce, whose high-handedness (*as ; one of the chief causes of the disturbance, and he was also antagonistic to the repeal of itie poll-tax. He added that Mr Esselen was biassed on Indian questions. [A message from Cape Town on December 11 read: The Gbverftment Comaiissien consists of Judge Solomon, Edward Esselen '[ and James Wylie, of Durban. " It will enquire into the. Indian problem, and has a wide refer* ence. It is empowered -to "sr.dpend sen*on passive resisters pending investigation.]
