The Government is signing a contract with Pauling'and Co.. of London, for the construction of 800' miles or railway, starting at Shasi, in Hupeh, and running to Singyfu, in Kweichow, via Chajvgteh and Changsha. * The agreement provides for construction by contract, ;4nd.also for Pauling and Company raising" loans to defray the cost of a projected „• line' to 'Jink up Hankovv with* distant,.}, provinces, by connecting with a future Frenci Yun-nan-Manning line. ..
