COMMITTEE MEETING.
A meeting of the committee of the A. and P. Association was held in Haw were, on Saturday ; present — -viessrs F. Livingston (chair), Greaves, J. W.. Buchanan, W. Gibson J. Thomson, T. W. Owen, L. Campbell, A. T. Wells, C. Washer, F. A. Bremer, J. Grant, W-_ McL'Dowie, H. W. Sutton, A. S. Tonke, T. A. Winks, W. A. Duckworth, B. C. Lysaght, H. P. Best, L. Hamilton, W. Gadsby, A. Hunter, and A. J. Hastie.
An application for space for a merry-go-Tound proprietor was left in the hands of the Programme Committee.
The resignations of Messrs J. and T. - Geary as members were accepted.
Mr G. D. Braik, Chief Inspector, wrote saying that the Board's supervisor of agricultural training (Mr Jas. Grant, 8.A.) woud be in th© district by-and-by, and hia services would be at the disposal of the oommafteiei to address a public meeting on "Farming Operations ia the Light of Rjecent Agricultural Science," or some kindred subject. — It was resolved to ask the School Committee to invite Mr Grant' to lecture and) to arrange a date.
Messrs T. Borthwick and Sons replied to a circular, saying they would again give a special prize (£lO 10s), but asked -ft giving fb prize for fat lambs at show time of the year in Taranaki was a success-, and whether it would not be more in "tho interests of the .Society if the donation were devoted to some other class. — 16 was decided to recommend that the prize be devoted to the same class (lambs for freezing) as last year, or that £7 7s shouldl* go to lambs and £3 3s for porkers suitablia for export. oThe Wanganui Meat Co. intimated that they had decided to discontinue the practice of making prize donations to shows.
A gnesat deal of time and attention were bestowed upon the selection of judges, atiM^,., a list was drawn up.
It was resolved to have classes for grade Jerseys the same as in Shorthorn grade. A resolution to have similar classes fox Ayrshire* and Dutch Priesans -was rejected.
Messrs J. C. Hobbs (Mangatoki) and S. Fotfsyth (district west of Hawera County) were elected members.
A class was created for <a match pair of draught mares, the property of one owner.
The first prize of high jump was fixed at £5 and the second at £2. — The class is to be made if special prize is donated. Thd ground committee's report was held over for consideration at next meeting. It recommended, inter aha, that competitive •plans be invited for the construction of a grandstand with a seating accommodation for 1000 -people and underneath a stewards* room, Secretary's office, press room, publican's bootii and ladies' room. The intention (if adopted) is to have the stand erected in time for 1907 show.
