DAIRYING DOWN SOUTH.

GREAT PROGRESS BEING MADE. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] . , OAMAftU, January 25. ' The Taieri and Peninsula Dairy Factoiv Company has made large additions to its butter factory in Oamaru, and •these were opened to-day with considerable eolat. there being pes^nt at the function a large and representative gathering. The Mayor in his remarks said the t-ompany had been in existence for twentyo#e years. The turn-over during the first year of its existence was £5495, and in 19U4 it was £260,665.- The Chairman of Directors gave a resume of th« history of the company, and the gieneral manager -dealt with the figures as they affected the -wealth of the .colony and of the Otago -district. Mr Turner, the representative -of a large home firm, who had visited aiearly every dairy country in the world, said the factory was the most complete "he had seen. In other countries each station was a creamery and factory combined, while in New Zealand the cream was sent from the skimming station to a .centre to "be made into butter. This was a great improvement, in his opinion. The visitors expressed themselves bighly pleased with the completeness of the factory. The amount paid last month at Oamaru for butter fat- was £8500.
