THE BALCONY SCENE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— l note with pleasure that Mr Atkinson has withdrawn in your columns the slanderous statement he made concerning myself, but I also observe with regret that the Rev. Mr McDonald, who shouted out the same slandsr'literally from the housetops, has not soen fit to follow Mr Atkinson's example. I have always been brought up to think that a clergyman should be particularly careful to ninke reparation for wrong done. Mr McDonald is a clergyman. Is it possible that prohibition has so clouded that gentleman's conscience that he cannot afford me even the poor comfort of an expression of regret for the wrong that he has done to me. — I am, etc., __ J. O'Driscoll. Royal Hotel, iiawera, Dec. 9.
