MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the General Committee was held on Wednesday evening, when there were present — Messrs Major (in the chair), Boyd, A. H. Parkinson, Whittaker, Babbage, White, Stowell, Swinburne, W. A. Parkinson, Barton, Robbins, Sutton, Milmoc, Brett, T. Twigg, and Brodriok. Tbe correspondence included letters from Mr Hurley, of Manaia, promising assistance ; Railway Department re train arrangements; Mrs Knott, New Plymouth, promising exhibits ; director of Technical School, Wellington, re exhibits ; Mayor of Patea, accepting invitation to be present; Manaia band, promising to take part in procession ; Mr Mofflin, re Now Plymouth exhibits, &o.
Mr Wilmington was requested to arrange about shooting gallery, 40. Mr Stowoll reported results of visit to Wanganui, and was thanked for his services.
Amnsements committee reported on arrangements as to procession. It was mentioned that tbe Hawera school was to famish several tableaux.
Coins, &c, were promised from Mr H. 8« Fitzherberr, of Palmerston.
Messrs Whittaker and Caplen to canvass and collect exhibits.
Tbe accommodation committee brongbt up plan of proposed allotment of building to different sections, which was generally approved.
A very enthusiastic feeling pervaded the meeting.
