CONCERT.
Tbe concert given last evening in ~ f t# Mary'a Soboolroon, in aid of St Pan' , 8 Cbnrcb, Normanby, was well-attende" 1 and passed off most supoessfully. Sever* 1 changes were made in the programm 6 owing to one or two vocalists being unabl^ to be present. The glee, " O who wil* o'er the downs," was finely rendered* Mr Sower by was very successful in " Maid of Athens," and received a large shaie of applanse. " Fiddle and I " (with violin obligato by Miss L. Harrison) found an able exponent in Mrs Parsons, and tbe violin duo, " Air de Ballet," by Misses L. and E. Harrison was an excellent item. Mise Eagles contributed 11 Wbite Wings," in which ahe was heard to preao advantage. A vociferous encore greeted Mr Batten's rendering of " The Wedding Day," and he was compelled to repeat it. Tbe duet, " The Fisherman," by Mr and Mrs W. Wilson, found favor with -the audience; and the singing of "Anchored" by Mr F. F. Godfrey, irbo made bis first appearance in Hawera, drew forth a demand for repetition, which was acceded to. Miss Tern pier scored a success in "The miller and the maid,'.' and in response to an encore gave " Kate O'Shane." Mr C. H. Warden sang •• A friar of orders grey" witb decided success, and was warmly applauded. Tbe second part was as follows : — Song, " Scenes that are brightest," Miss Eagles ; song, " The I midshipmite," Mr Sowerby; song, "Old and new," Mrs Parsons; violin solo, ••Romance without words," Miss E. Harrison ; trio, " O memory," Miss Templer, Mrs Wilson and Mr Wilson; song, " Tbe village blacksmith," Mr Godfrey ; song, " The three fishers," Mies L. Harrison (encored); song, "The goldbeater," Mr ' Batten (encored); song, " Douglas, tender and true," Miss Temp* ler; song, "A hundred fathoms deep," Mr Warden ; violin duet, " Tarantelle," Misses L. and E. Harrison (encored); glee, "The three chafers" (encored). Before the last item, the Rev. Mr Kay thanked those wbo bad attended, and also asked tbe audience to pass a vote of thanks to the promoters of the conoert, which was passed by acclamation. Theacoom* panists were Mrs Fairhall, Mrs Harrison, and Miss Eagles.
