Sale of Strathmore Township.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) . Mr. Newton King, in conjunction with Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co., offered hAk auction, at Stratford, on the 28th mv!^ v the above township on behalf of Messrs. Aiken, Brewer and Erull. There was a good attendance. Mr. King, in opening the proceedings, said that there was a reserve for a Government township a mile I or two away, but it was in a bad situation, the land being low. Strathmore was in a much better spot, and was an old Maori clearing^ He believed on good authority that the Government had no intention of going on with their township if this one was started.
