The new firebell for Hawera has arrived, and is generally admitted to be a 11 boomer," the tones of wbich should be heard at a great distance. It weighs 2851b5, and the clappers are heavy and work so easily that there ought to be no trouble in getting sound out of the bell. Messrs. Anderson and Morrision, of Dunedin, are the makers. In the Bankruptcy Court, Dnnedin, Mr. Justice Williams has suspended tbe order of discharge for twelve months in two instances though the applications were unopposed on tbe ground that the debtori' had conducted their business honestly. The funeral was largely attended, and the parson, wisely forßeeing that an act of charity need not include a pecuniary Bacrifice, announced at the end of the burial service and before the grave was filled in, that he would then and there lift his usual Sunday collection, and was instructing one of bis congregation to place himself at the cemetery gate for (hat purpose, but the rate at which that funeral party broke up waa tbe quickest on record."
