MANAIA DAIRY FACTORY.

At a meetiag of the directors of the Manaia Dairy Factory, held yesterday, it was resolved to accept an offer for lour tons of clieeso made by Mr. Milton. The latter to pay cost of packing cases. Be* turns were received from Wellington for a package of cheese sent as a sample. Mr. W. J. Gandy, who reported that it had realised top-price, viz., 4£d, and he could dispose of further consignments if that price were satisfactory. An offer made by Mr. Antrobus, the manager, to run the faotory during the winter months, from May to Augu6t 31, at his own expense, if allowed to do so rentfree wns accepted ; provided that he took charge of the cheese in stock a bonus of ten paid up shares in the company would be granted to him. The manager's offer was considered to be a very liberal one. The auditor reported that a cheque for £24 odd had been paid in to tho credit of the company, in order to rectify errors in account-keeping made by the late secretary, whose explanation of the causes of the errors pointed out by the auditor was accepted by the directors, and a cheque of his for .£l3 odd was ordered to be paid in to the company's credit. It was resolved to endeavor to raise a loan on the company's building and plant, and to pay off the overdraft with the proceeds. It was farther agreed to issue promissory notes to milk suppliers for January and February's milk, so soon as the P.N's. now current had been paid, viz., at the end of the present month. A sale of a consignment of cheese to the West Coaßt was reported by Mr Glenn, at a satisfactory price, and iurther orders were expected from that quarter. The monthly balance-sheet was laid on the table, showing a loss of £2 on the month's working, valuing the cheese made at 3d per lb. This prioe ib, however, lower than any yet realised for the company's make.
