Mr. Herbert Talbot, for some time foreman in the Patea Press office, and a member of the Kifle Band, has received the appointment of Bandmaster of the Newcastle (New South "Wales) Band. The Theatre Eoyal in Wellington is now reaping a harvest. Before the Opera House was burnt down it could only get £10 or £12 a week, but now it charges £45. At the B.M. Court, Manaia, a native woman was brought at a special sitting before Messrs. Young and Budge, Justices, charged with having stolen £8 from a settler residing on the Auroa road when the latter was in Manaia.
