CHRISTCHURCH, January 27. The May Queen barque, from London, went ashore at Eed Head reef, Lyttelton, yesterday, and is still on the reef, and it is considered doubtful whether she will get off. She was badly strained dnring low water. Out of 1300 tons of general cargo, 150 have been got out. Five lighters are engaged in salvage. A good deal of it is insured at Home ; the insurances in the local offices are: Standard £3000, National £1100, New Zealand £1600, Union £900, South British £200. The vessel is owned by J. Leslie, Aberdeen, and is insured at Home. She was commanded by Captain Colville. Matilda Hansen has been committed for trial for stealing £12 from J. D. Kirk.
