WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

WELLINGTON, January 25.

At the Wesleyan Conference this morning, the second reading of ministers' appointments was agreed to, and at 11 o'clock the conference, in its representation session, was duly constituted. The President delivered a comprehensive ad* dress, after which the Home Mission Committee was appointed. A recommendation to unite Te Awamutu was not agreed to. It was decided to unite the Helensville and Wade districts. Consideration of the reunion of Hawera and Patea was deferred till the Home Mission Committee report. It was decided to re- appoint a probationer to Tauranga, Gisborne, and Gore circuits ; also that ministers be appointed to Mahuranga and Greytown, a second minister to St. Albans, and a third to Wellington. Home missionaries were appointed to the Bay of Islands and Upper Thames. The debate on an independent conference for New Zealand is to be taken on Thursday evening. The morning and afternoon sessions will be occupied with Home Mission business.

WELLINGTON, January 28.

At the Wesleyan Conference yesterday, the debate was resumed on the question of an independent conference. The Bey. Mr. Bavin moved, as an amendment, That, in the opinion of this conference, it is undesirable that New Zealand should at present be constituted a separate and independent conference. The debate is proceeding.
