MELBOURNE, May 19.
The American branches of the Irish National Land League are offering large rewards for the conviction of the perpetrators of the recent outrage in Ireland. C'Donovan Rossa, the editor of the United Irishman, justifies the aims and policy of the Irish Nihilists, but denounces the murder of Lord Cavendish and Mr. Burke. The House of Commons has instructed tho Attorney-General to defend Colonel Erskine, the Acting Sergeant-at-Arms, in the action which Mr. Bradlaugh is bringing against him, for alleged assault committed during Mr. Bradlauglr's recent ejectment from the House of Commons. Parnoll, the leader of the Land League party, and Michael Davitt, tho originator of the League, express fear that Fenian vengeance will be diverted against them, as they are charged with having abandoned the Irish cause. Arrests continue to be made by the police iv connection with the recent tragedy in Phoenix Park. The charge against Herr Julius Yon Neuwald, ex-Burgomaster of Vienna, of having boen guilty of negligence, which contributed to the terrible disaster at Ring Theatre, on December Bth, 1881, has been withdrawn. A match has been arranged between -Pearce, who accompanied Laycock from Sydney, and Largan, an English oarsman of some repute. The stakes are £100 aside, and the contest will take place on the Thames on Juno 17. A building which had been erected for the purposes of hygienic exhibitions at Berlin, has been burned. Sir Samuel Wilson has intimated his intention of erecting a memorial window atHughenden church to commemorate the Queen's escape from assasination at th c hands of McLean.
