NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION ENCAMPMENT.
(PKR UNITED PRKSS ASSOCIATION.)
BRIGHTWATER, This Day.
Beautiful weather prevails, and all the representatives are now on the ground. Major Baillie is in command. The ranges are in good condition, and shooting commences immediately after dinner.
Later.
The Wanganui men intend to protest against some of the Wellington, Thames, and Nelson Rifles on the ground that they have been practising at a range within a mile of the Association range. It is stated that the distance between the targets has been measured and found to be within a mile. It is understood that Paynter is included among those protested againsf. First and second prizes in the Nelson match, being £10 and cup value £10, and £9 respectively, have been struck out, and all other prizes are reduced 25 per cenf. With regard to the latter, it is probable that the amount deducted will be refunded when the association are in funds.
