THE CATHOLIC VOTE.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE STAR.
Sir, — Would you kindly remark in the Stab (as an explanation of a statement made in your last issue), that I am sorry the Patea News was so elastic in- reporting what I said last Sunday, in the Catholic Church at Patea.
In the first place, I never alluded to a pastoral from Bishop Bedwood, secondly I did not say Catholics should not go to the ballot in case both candidates were neutral or secular, because I am aware that Catholics have the same general interest in politics as any other people, and if so, why not take part in them ? Lastly, I did not ask our Catholics to give the Major their block vote, though from the principles I laid down, and the reasons I advanced, I am convinced the Major is sure of moat of the Catholic votes. — I am, &c, Fr Groqan, Hawera, Nor. 18. * S.M,
