THE MAYORALTY.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE BTA.B.
Sir, — The citizens of Hawera who know, as I know, will perhaps pardon the inconsistency of not voting for the other candidate. Like other plain, honest men, I must confess to a like interest in the respectability of the new borough. That Mr. Davidson has come forward at my instigation is false. He has at least in my opinion, excellent qualifications, and therefore I shall support him. As to my career on the Town Board not being a success, I am quite at one with " Citizen." A man who talks the truth in plain Saxon could hardly hope for Town Board success. The acts of that body tell a very plain tale. It is perhaps the desire of " Citizen" that borough records should not present a fairer page. — I am, &c,
C. H, McCUTCQ&K.
