MELBOURNE, This Day. The V.R.C. Derby was run ou Saturday, with the following result : — Darebin, 1 ; Santa Claus, 2; Commotion, 3. Time, 2min. 41-£ sec. Won pretty easily. Santa Claus has greatly improved in the Cup betting, on account of his running in the Derbj*. Arrived yesterday morning — Union Co.'s steamship Rotomahana, from Bluff. Arrived last evening — P. and O. Co.'s steamship Indus, with English mails, which left Louclou on the 23rd Sept. The following is the latest betting on the cup : — Darebin, 3to 1 ; Waxy, 4to 1 ; Duchess, 20 to 1 ; Odd Trick, 50 to 3.
